{"id":12593,"date":"2022-03-07T15:28:00","date_gmt":"2022-03-07T19:28:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cenal.gob.ve\/?p=12593"},"modified":"2022-05-23T03:43:23","modified_gmt":"2022-05-23T07:43:23","slug":"el-continente-enfermo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cenal.gob.ve\/?p=12593","title":{"rendered":"El continente enfermo"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Reunidos bajo un t\u00edtulo que anuncia la principal inquietud de su autor, los m\u00e1s de 60 textos que aqu\u00ed se presentan vuelven una y otra vez sobre temas a los que su autor nunca renunci\u00f3: la apremiante necesidad de la \u201cAm\u00e9rica ib\u00e9rica\u201d de unirse y hacerse fuerte, la mirada cr\u00edtica del legado espiritual hisp\u00e1nico, la preocupaci\u00f3n por la educaci\u00f3n, la vocaci\u00f3n bolivariana y la alerta ante el imperialismo sobre cuyas apetencias no albergaba dudas. Abre este libro con el art\u00edculo que le da t\u00edtulo y cierra con su discurso de incorporaci\u00f3n a la Academia de la Historia, entre los cuales median 33 a\u00f1os de ejercicio pol\u00edtico, intelectual y diplom\u00e1tico sin que para nada haya cambiado su convicci\u00f3n de que en el alma venezolana se anima una fe que nos llama a mantener despierto a todo el continente: \u201cUna fe para guiar hacia la nacionalidad los pueblos del Guaire al Potos\u00ed y congregar para el derecho la Am\u00e9rica en Panam\u00e1\u201d. Esa visi\u00f3n del sino hist\u00f3rico de Venezuela como una suerte de naci\u00f3n gu\u00eda no es fruto solo de la ideolog\u00eda positivista de C\u00e9sar Zumeta, la cual lo lleva a concebir el posible desarrollo del pa\u00eds como un proceso que debe darse en alianza con los pueblos que cultural y gen\u00e9ticamente nos son afines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>C\u00e9sar Zumeta <\/strong>Pol\u00edtico, historiador, diplom\u00e1tico y escritor, nacido en San Felipe, Yaracuy. Colabor\u00f3 en <em>Cosm\u00f3polis<\/em> y <em>El Cojo Ilustrado<\/em>. Fue director de <em>El Universal.<\/em> Como diplom\u00e1tico represent\u00f3 a Venezuela en la Sociedad de Naciones ante el bloqueo impuesto por varios pa\u00edses durante el gobierno de Cipriano Castro. Fue un abanderado del positivismo y del movimiento modernista. Apoy\u00f3 al r\u00e9gimen de Juan Vicente G\u00f3mez. Individuo de n\u00famero en la Academia Nacional de la Historia, entre sus obras destacan <em>Bol\u00edvar en San Pedro<\/em> (1883), <em>La ley del cabestro <\/em>(1902), <em>Las potencias y la intervenci\u00f3n en Hispanoam\u00e9rica<\/em> (1963) y <em>Hombres y problemas de Am\u00e9rica Latina<\/em> (1973).
