De sobrio estilo y claridad expresiva, esta breve muestra recoge narraciones y otros escritos que permiten ahondar en el periplo vital y la erudici\u00f3n de su autor. Bajo la denominaci\u00f3n de \u201cSue\u00f1os\u201d, recoge un par de impecables ejercicios de la imaginaci\u00f3n donde examina ciertos paradigmas culturales y nociones filos\u00f3ficas. En \u201cFiguras\u201d, se presentan dos de sus m\u00e1s memorables cuentos: \u201cOpoponax\u201d, suerte de cr\u00edtica y parodia del ambiente afrancesado de los escritores venezolanos de inicios del siglo XX, y \u201cEl diente roto\u201d, una s\u00e1tira de la inteligencia y hasta cierto punto de la pol\u00edtica de su tiempo. Asimismo, presenta el ensayo \u201cDecadentismo y americanismo\u201d, donde cuestiona ciertas corrientes cr\u00edticas que se\u00f1alan como nociva la influencia de autores europeos en detrimento de una literatura americanista. Esta selecci\u00f3n da cuenta de la genialidad de Pedro Emilio Coll al crear una literatura h\u00edbrida, donde traspas\u00f3 las fronteras de los g\u00e9neros en favor de la calidad est\u00e9tica y conceptual, de all\u00ed que en \u00e9l la corriente modernista es tambi\u00e9n una mirada al mundo interior en un verbo que cifra la belleza de la escritura.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Pedro Emilio Coll<\/strong>&nbsp;Escritor y periodista nacido en Caracas en 1872. Fund\u00f3 la revista&nbsp;<em>Cosm\u00f3polis<\/em>, iniciadora del modernismo en Venezuela, en 1894. Ocup\u00f3 varios cargos p\u00fablicos como ministro y diplom\u00e1tico. Fue individuo de n\u00famero de la Academia Venezolana de la Lengua y de Historia. Falleci\u00f3 en su ciudad natal en 1947.
