Su obra est\u00e1 conformada por los poemarios&nbsp;<em>Estrofas<\/em>&nbsp;y&nbsp;<em>Ritmos<\/em>, as\u00ed como traducciones, cuya recopilaci\u00f3n vio la luz por primera vez en las ediciones del Ministerio de Educaci\u00f3n de 1947.Del poemario&nbsp;<em>Estrofas<\/em>&nbsp;(1877) podemos destacar el c\u00e9lebre \u201cVuelta a la Patria\u201d, cuyos versos emotivos expresan el sentimiento patri\u00f3tico y parte de la identidad cultural del venezolano, sobre todo, del caraque\u00f1o. Por otra parte,&nbsp;<em>Ritmos<\/em>&nbsp;(1880) contiene el afamado \u201cPoema al Ni\u00e1gara\u201d, que profundiza en temas filos\u00f3ficos, al reflexionar sobre la posici\u00f3n del ser ante los misterios y la inmensidad inabarcable de la naturaleza. La presente edici\u00f3n contiene traducciones de Shakespeare, Heine, Guerra Junqueiro y Poe, cuya versi\u00f3n de \u201cEl cuervo\u201d (la primera en lengua espa\u00f1ola) es de considerable calidad literaria, distinguida por la cr\u00edtica como la mejor que se ha hecho de dicha obra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Juan Antonio P\u00e9rez Bonalde<\/strong>\u00a0Poeta y traductor. Naci\u00f3 en Caracas en 1846. Desde muy joven emigr\u00f3 con su familia debido a la inestabilidad pol\u00edtica y el clima b\u00e9lico del pa\u00eds. Reconocido por la cr\u00edtica como uno de los grandes poetas del siglo XIX venezolano, su dominio de lenguas extranjeras le permiti\u00f3 hacer traducciones sobresalientes de Edgar Allan Poe y de Heinrich Heine. Entre sus obras se destacan\u00a0<em>Estrofas\u00a0<\/em>(que incluye su c\u00e9lebre poema \u201cVuelta a la Patria\u201d),\u00a0<em>Ritmos<\/em>\u00a0y\u00a0<em>El poema al Ni\u00e1gara<\/em>.
